Our Goal:
Our goal is to develop a DIRT GROUP Practitioner Instructor cohort focused on providing consultation, instruction, guidance, and mentoring to those organizations and/or individuals wishing to learn more about DIRT GROUP and it's implementation. Child & teen mental health has been at crises levels since prior to the pandemic. In 2016 the National Children's Health Survey revealed 50% of kids in need of mental health care were unable to access a mental health professional. Since the pandemic, the impacts of increased social isolation have only increased mental health needs. DIRT GROUP provides social contexts through in-person, hybrid, and virtual platforms; holding space for these kiddos to learn, practice, and develop interpersonal skills through experientially rich projects together in gardening, farming foods, and the creative arts. DIRT GROUP is a trauma-informed and trauma-responsive mental health application grounded in applied theory and neuroscience. This fundraising effort will help us advance our work and mission.
Our Programs:
DIRT GROUP is an award-winning mental health application rooted in applied theory and recent findings in neuroscience that creates opportunities for meaningful social engagement and increased mental health as DIRT GROUP participants realize intrinsic and tangible results through participation in experientially rich gardening, farming, foods, and creative arts projects.
When schools across the globe shuttered in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, child and adolescent mental health needs were already at crisis levels. These unprecedented levels of social isolation impacted child and adolescent mental health even more drastically as opportunities for social connection plummeted. DIRT GROUP WORLD was created in March 2020 to meet this new challenge, successfully pivoting both a rural and a metro group to completely virtual platforms for 14 months.
Our Ask:
With your support, DIRT GROUP Global can
- provide timely and meaningful programming, instruction, and consultation to community, educational, and mental health organizations, partners, and stakeholders working to decrease the impacts of social isolation on mental health;
- advance its work in game-based, virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning spaces; and
- practically and financially support DIRT GROUP residencies, internships, instruction, and consultation.
